About me

By Cela Jo began on the couch with my dogs, my nieces, and beads for friendship bracelets. The beading became a habit. Soon after our family crafting took root, my beloved grandma, Betty Jo, passed away. While cleaning out her home, I found hundreds of pieces of jewelry she had made by hand—box after box of necklaces and bracelets made with southern flare. I brought home just a small fraction of her collection. I didn’t know then how much I would later wish I had brought back every piece!

Using my grandmother’s materials felt special, and I quickly realized how soothing the work was for my own anxiety. It slowly became a hobby as I adjusted to being an empty nester. Even though I’ve never considered myself a creative person, I started experimenting with new styles and designs, inspired by jewelry I loved.

As my friends began asking for necklaces and bracelets of their own, my husband and one of my closest friends encouraged me to take the leap and turn this into something real. So here I am—fumbling my way through marketing, social media, and photography—learning as I go. Designing and making the jewelry will always be my favorite part. I especially love adding my signature little dangle to each piece.

I named this business after my grandma and each collection is named after my nieces. Thank you for supporting my small, handmade, woman owned business. I’m committed to sustainability in my packaging and will continue to research eco-friendly options. Your support means more than you know. Every piece I make keeps this story — and my grandma’s legacy — alive.
